Snufflebabe on 10week old baby feet?

Hi all!! New to mumsnet although it has been my go to for anything baby related my whole 10 weeks Grin my 10 week old seems to be a bit bunged up and struggling with a snotty nose the last two nights.. I've used saline drops and tried the snot sucker but not getting much out and he absolutely hates the sucker!! Read that putting snufflebabe on feet before bed works wonders and as the packet says not to use under 3 months I'm a bit nervous to do it? (He is 7 weeks corrected!!) does anyone else think it's a no go until he is 12weeks old? As they state to use it on chest and throat (which I won't be doing) only on his feet would it be ok? Just wanna help him be more comfortable again at night Sad
He is EBF and weighs a good 11lb if that makes any difference Confused

Hi RWVM,

Welcome!! Were pleased you're officially joined us. We spent much of our pregnancies browsing the boards too so we know where you're coming from.

We can't give medical advice unfortunately as we are no experts - when it comes to health-related stuff we always recommend people seek real life advice from professionals.

We did however want to pop in, say hello and give this a bump for you.

Good luck and we hope your baby feels a lot better soon.

Op I was always really worried about putting snuffle babe on my babies. It always seems so strong for such delicate skin.

So, something I did, possibly a bit mad...I blamed extreme tiredness warping my thinking, however I swear blind it worked.

I would put a but of snuffle babe on collar bone, so when my DDs were feeding they were breathing the menthol without it 'burning' their skin (this is what I thought it would have done)
I would make sure baby never touched collar bone. Once asleep I would pop them in moses basket and let them sleep. Their bodies do what they need to do whilst sleeping.

As @FlissMumsnet said though we are not drs, we have just been desperate parents trying to settle our little ones.

What I did never did mine any harm, however, I may have just been lucky and somebody will be a long in a minute to tell me I put my kids at huge risk.

Baby will get better soon enough and will be sleeping better!

Congratulations by the way.

You might have more success with one of the Calpol plug in diffusers - I think they can be used any age (but double check!) I think for all the difference the snuffle stuff is likely to make its probably not worth the risk of a skin reaction.

You can put some on a muslin and put it near but not touching them. Or do what PP said and put it on yourself so baby inhales it while feeding. Having said that, I bet it probably doesn't do any harm to put it on the feet but they won't have tested it on really tiny babies so can't say that on the packaging.
