6 month old standing up in next-to-me crib

DS has been able to pull himself up on this for over a month now, but thankfully because he can’t sit up from laying on his back, he’s never figured out to roll over, and get up that way, so he’s been perfectly safe in the along side crib.

In the past week, he has fully mastered crawling, has figured he can stand up in the alongside crib (even in a sleeping bag), and I have also woken to find him on the floor playing with the drawers (from co-sleeping).

Obviously it’s time to move on from the along side crib, but the cot we have doesn’t fit in the bedroom. I have considered putting him into his own room in his cot, and have even trialed it for 5 nights, but I can’t cope. I’m exhausted. I’m breastfeeding and he’s still feeding anything between 4-8 times a night, and I’m struggling to find the energy by the end of the night to put him back in the cot in his room.

We’re considering a slim/compact cot, but can anyone else suggest any other potentially options before we fork out for a second cot when we already have a brand new one sitting in his room!

Why not buy a cheap travel cot as a stop gap until he’s in his own room?

I bedshared with DS in a single floor bed from 14 mo til we finished BF. I still get in and share with him now at 26 mo if he's struggling although that's getting rarer

Take the mattress out of the cot and put him on that. Keep your bedroom door closed though so he can’t get out of the room and babyproof as needed.

If you want to continue Co sleeping then either sleep in his room with mattress on the floor or put your mattress on the floor and baby proof your room completely.

Depending on the size of your baby a Hyde crib from mothercare might be a good option.
