3 day old won't stop crying

I'm in desperate need of help, my 3 day old daughter, who is so lovely and placid 99% of the time, flat out refuses to be put in her bedside crib at night..... ONLY at night not in the day. As soon as you put her down she starts to gripe, within seconds purple face screams begin, she won't latch, picking her up makes no difference, we've tried raising the head end of the cot and two different swaddling techniques, the only thing that stops her screaming is laying on her front on my chest, but I've had 3 hours sleep across 4 days and it's too dangerous to stay like this, my eyes are too heavy. What can I do??

Totally normal - do you have a partner who can take her for a few hours while you get some rest?
You need to take it turns to hold her - google 4th trimester.
It'll get better gradually over the next few weeks Flowers

Just to clarify, she does stop crying when you put her on your front, yes?
You just have to do whatever it takes in these first few weeks.
It's brutal but worth it

It’s totally normal - don’t panic. At this point they just want to be held. Some things you can do: warm the crib with a hot water bottle, use a t shirt you’ve worn as a sheet so it smells like you (tuck firmly under mattress to avoid loose fabric in crib), only put them down once they’ve fallen soundly asleep, and do so by leaning your body right down into the crib to maintain contact. Once down, tap their chest with the flat of your hand, quite firmly, in time to the beat of your heart (they’re used to that feeling from being next to your heart in the womb), for a minute or so. Play white noise.

Great advice from @FenellaMaxwell. The only thing I would add is to try a Gro Swaddle or Gro Snug which can both be used from newborn and mean you're not taking her out of her covers to feed her or putting her back into cold covers after she's been fed. Agree the key is to make sure she's fully asleep and not to wake her when you put her back.

Hi OP,
It does get better. DS was the same and we took turns having him sleep on us. We still kept trying the crib and he gradually accepted it and by 2 weeks would happily sleep in it. Good luck I know it feel awful but it does get better!

Hi there - the fact she goes purple and screams may indicate reflux. My LO has reflux and after feeds he would go purple and scream. Maybe get her checked over?
