What time do your 9 and 6 year olds go to bed?

Mine are dreadful sleepers and often still awake at 10. I've tried all sorts but nothing makes any difference. At the moment they go up to bed at 8:30. Is this too late? They never have trouble waking up in the morning.

6 year old goes to bed at 7.30 asleep by 8. 8 year old goes to bed at 8 asleep by 8.30.

9 year old goes to bed at 8pm. I read to her for 15/20 minutes. She is then allowed to read or watch tv until 8.45pm. Tv off at 8.45pm. No lights except fairy lights. I go up between 9/9.15pm and she is almost always asleep. She gets up at 7.30am.

However, she has anxiety issues and when they flare up she won’t go upstairs without me (or be in a different room, or without me being in immediate touching distance) so I then go to bed with her about 8.30pm and she sleeps in my bed while I read.

Quite late - 7yo usually at 9pm. has to be woken up at 8am to get to school on time.

Dementedswan · 03/09/2019 20:40

Two dc age 9 and 8. They both go up at 7.30 on a school night. They can read for half an hour but more often than not fall asleep before then. I get them up at 7.15 for school (they like a cooked breakfast) friday and sat nights are late nights, usually 9.30/10 and they wake anywhere between 9/10. Guess mine need their 12 hours.

6yr old upstairs at 7.30, asleep by 8.15.
9yr old upstairs at 8, asleep by 9. Except on cubs night which doesn't finish til 8pm.

9 year old has always been a night owl. In the holidays she’s been going to sleep around 10ish.

Term time, we aim for lights out at 9. We wake her at 7.

SpeedyShutter · 03/09/2019 21:07

Only just turned 7 y old goes up at 7.30 on a school night and the 8 y old goes up at 8. They're up at 6.30.

On a weekend they go up half an hour later and then have an hour's "quiet" (I use that term loosely) reading before settling down for sleep. They get up when they want but not before 8a.m.

Atalune · 03/09/2019 21:38

7 year old is in bed and reading by 8 and asleep by 8.30 and awake around 7ish

10 year old is up in bed by 8.30/9 and lights out when he’s ready. Up around 7.30....

Bringmewineandcake · 03/09/2019 21:47

6 year old goes up between 8 & 9 but can still be awake chatting till 11. Apart from tonight....peaceful early night after first day back at school.

onemorecakeplease · 03/09/2019 23:27

Mine go to bed around 8pm; the 7yo is asleep in minutes (I usually sit with her til she gets sleepy, foot rub, chat about the day etc)

10yo reads til about 8.30/8.45 and asleep by 9. They don't get any screens in bed and usually have a shower then supper and into bed.

Do yours have a bath or eat anything before bed? Mine can't sleep if they haven't had supper.
