Sleeping habits for one month old & swing2sleep

Hello

Does anyone have experience with the swing2sleep? It's a motorised baby hammock that rocks the baby to sleep.

Our one month old has been quite unsettled the past few weeks. He only seems to settle when he is in our arms. We are considering buying the swing2sleep but I don't want for him to become dependent on it to sleep. I think maybe he should be going into his cot to nap and learn to self sooth.

Does anyone have any tips on this matter?

Thanks in advance
Sara

No idea about the product. Is it safe?

Just to encourage you, my DD wouldn't settle well at all in the day time in her moses basket for the first 6-8 weeks. I wore her in a sling a lot during that time to make sure she didn't get over tired but kept trying the moses basket once a day. Then around 8 weeks it was like a switch flicked and she was suddenly settling really easy in the moses basket (in the dark with white noise and dummy), now we're at 15 weeks and she doesn't even need the dummy to settle in there any more. She just chats away and then falls asleep!

At a month old I think it's quite hard for them and it's just about making sure they get some sleep, however that's achieved, but just keep trying with the cot so they have a chance to practice once a day.x

I'd agree with PP about continuing to try putting baby down in the cot to sleep, as they might surprise you at some point and just do it (think DS started to for naps at around 12 weeks). However, I mean this kindly, there's really no such thing as self settling at a month old. It's really tough, but really just about powering through at this stage and going with what works - it'll change so frequently over the next few months that I wouldn't invest any significant money in props which may (or may not!) help baby to sleep now but stop working again in a few weeks. Hope you find something that helps soon Thanks

We have a five week old little girl, she has always struggled sleeping on her own. We bedshared for the first couple of weeks at night and we've managed to transition her to the next2me cot for most of the night, but she still spends a bit of early hours in bed with us.

Daytime is even worse- she will rarely be put down to sleep. It's in our arms, the car or pram. We recently bought a baby Ktan carrier as she didn't like our baby bjorn much and it's been a GODSEND! You can breastfeed in it too. She loves it and sleeps for a couple of hours at a time in it during the day. I am starting to try a nap in her next2me during the day but put down asleep- she can't self settle yet. I decided to stop trying to make her sleep on her own and just prioritise her, me and my husband getting some sleep!

Some of my friends used these in the early months and said they were useful. To echo PPs, most babies will not self settle at 1 month old - though it is worth trying. It is tough going. Mine got it at 6 months old. I used to take them for walks in the pram and hurry home or for a coffee once they were asleep.
