13 months dropping a nap?

Hi all,

Wondering if you can help.
For about two months now, naps and nighttime sleep have Ben very inconsistent.

DS has been refusing the second nap in a cot for two months however, if we go in the car, he'll easily drop off. He's capable of sleeping in the cot and will go down in the cot for a morning nap easily with no help from myself.

If he has two naps in the day, he will wake for up to two hours at night. If he has one he'll usually sleep through. The problem is he wakes at 5:00-5:30 and is usually sooooo tired all morning so stretching him out until 12:00/12:30 seems unfair.

He has been on and off unwell for a while now (nursery germs) with a cough and colds and teething. One thing after another and I can't tell if his night wakings are due to this or because he wants to drop a nap.

Any advice on how I can drop to one nap, even when he wakes early? Is he even trying to drop the nap? X

Also, if he does manage a pm nap it's about 4.5 hrs after morning one and he wakes from it very unhappy and looks still sleepy 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm clueless.

Try changing lunch to 11am and putting him down after that. A 2 hour sleep then start bedtime routine when he needs it.

Trying a new one nap system. He's soooooo tired in the morning, feels so cruel.

Did it take your little ones a while to get used to it?
