12 week old won’t sleep unless held or feeding!

Hey, my LG is now 12 weeks old- she is a perfect baby. Apart from napping during the day, she sleeps 12hrs at night 9-9 (roughly). She will be awake for about 1.5hrs then after that gets very grizzly & aggy. However, she will not fall asleep unless being bounced or fed. As she fights going to sleep as hard as she can!
I have a couple of times managed to get her to sleep on the sofa next to me- however this is very rare.
I feel like I can’t complain as she sleeps well at night but it means during the day I don’t get much done at all.
How can I get her to start sleeping on her own? And not to fight it as much?

Thanks!
Louise

Have you considered babywearing?

Totally normal. She’s not designed to sleep on her own. What needs doing more desperately than meeting her (temporary and developmental) needs?

I have, but when I say grizzly- mean she ends up screaming not wanting to sleep. Should I be trying to get her off when it’s coming up to 1.5hrs to stop her being so hard to sleep?

Anything is worth a try but some babies just aren't good at sleeping alone or self settling. Mine was almost a year before she showed any self settling ability and it's still rather limited

I'm on my second round of this. It's like they wake up to the world with a mega round of FOMO.
What usually worked with my first and is workingish with my second is:
Nappy change one hour after waking, feed and into the sling/car/ pram so that he's in 'sleeping position' by 80 to 90 mins after waking.
Enforcement of the first nap of the day is key for us and worked well in term time for knocking him out during the school run.
Subsequent naps are usually more like 2 to 3 hours awake time but he's 17wks now so some stretching of awake time is expected.
I can often get him to do a really big sleep (2h or so) in the early afternoon if I can feed him to sleep on my bed then transfer him to his cot, however this is predicated on the 3yo not invading my room at just the wrong moment.
Napping on the sofa is not ideal, if you need baby to sleep and baby needs you lying with them then just use an empty bed.
