it's an exciting night in our house.....

maybe exciting isn;t quite the right word.
3 year old DS has moved into his new bedroom (same bed but now with grown up Thunderbirds duvet cover which he was very excited about).

DH and I are rather nervous though as his new bedroom has only curtains, with blackout lining, but there are no blackout blinds to go with them as there were in his nursery. Also, his new bedroom is at the front of the house and will get any morning sunshine.

Ds has always been quite a good sleeper (for example this morning he woke about 8.15 having gone to bed at 7.45) but tongiht he was very tired and was in bed by 7pm and now Dh and I are wondering if we are going to be woken at the crack of dawn as the light in his room wakes him up.

Forgive me for posting over such a trivial matter please. I dont even expect any replies but feel better now that you know I'm worried as I'm sure you'll be sending all your sleepy thoughts to DS willing him not to wake early, wont you?

Yes, here's some lie-in thoughts for your ds .

And the way today's been I doubt there'll be morning sunlight streaming in. .

Hope he enjoys his new bed.

See you at 6ish

No-sleepy vibes---

Angeliz · 18/09/2004 20:42

Hey, I bet your ds is excited.

Here's to a good night's sleep to him and a not too early start!

How about leaving a thunderbirds toy in his room as well, so that if he does wake up, he's got something to play with? (That sometimes works with my DD - but not that often!)

mckenzie · 18/09/2004 21:13

good idea Meanbean. MInd you, DS has never ever got out of bed of his own accord. When he wakes he just talks to himself or hums/sings. His bed is low enough to the floor that he can get out but for some reason, he never has done.

Ah bless! My dd comes through to our room at the crack of dawn doing something cute, like pretending to be a dog or a clown so we dont tell her to get back to bed! Hope you get a lie in, it will hopefully rain in the morning.

mckenzie · 19/09/2004 07:54

oh dear. I tempted fate didn't I by saying that DS has never got out of bed of his own accord!!

7.15 this morning and our little ray of sunshine came trotting into our bedroom saying "mummy, would you like a pancake?" (he has a little kitchen is in his new bedroom).

In a way, it was lovely but just a shame it was at 7.15 and not 8.30. The curtains we can now see do let in a lot of sunshine level with the window sill (and of course today had to be a sunny one didn't it!) so we might have to put our thinking caps on about that.

Mckenzie ... 7.15am is a luxurious lie in ... My DS has never ever ever slept later than 7am and that was only a couple of times when he was poorly. He wakes up every morning between 6 and 6.30am ... DD is starting to do that too ...
