Really can't sleep.

New mum to a two week boy and I'm struggling to sleep whenever he is in the room with me. Doesn't matter how tired I am to nap/sleep, as soon as he's down, I'm wide awake and on edge expecting him to wake up at any second and every little noise/movement he makes jolts me out of any sleep I may be getting.

Debating putting him into his own room and investing in a baby monitor but I know it's recommended to have them sleep in your room for the first six months however I'm not sure I can cope for that long 😅

Any advice or tips?

I was like this. I slept on the sofa for a bit and left LG with her Dad, then we bought a monitor and moved her to her own room at 2 months. It's not the advice the HV gives but it worked for us.

Try wearing silicone ear plugs (only if you're not co sleeping). You can just wear one in one ear to start with. It'll tune out the usual baby snuffles but I guarantee you'll still hear him when he cries!

I agree with the earplugs. DS is next to me in a crib attached to our bed and I was waking at every shuffle he made and found that I couldn’t sleep even when he was sleeping, I am such a light sleeper. I lie on my side and wear one earplug (in the ear I’m not lay on) - I still wake up when he’s hungry before he gets to crying stage, when he’s still asleep but starting to suckle and grumble.
