Swaddle or not??

Hello everyone. I've got a 4 month old baby, first time Mum. He's no longer feeding at night, he went 5 or 6 nights without 'asking' for a feed so that was when we decided, no more night feeds. For the next week or so he was ok at night. He still woke at around 2am and 5am, but went straight down with a dummy.

Since then we've gone straight backwards. He's been waking at 11, 1/2, 3 and so on. I've read about 4 month sleep regression, so that could be it.

Anyway. My question. Is it ok to swaddle him for longer periods?
When, at around 3/4am we get fed up with being up and down etc, we swaddle him (quite tight) with a large muslin. He then sleeps for a few hours. It's almost like his own wriggling wakes him up! Hubby says he feels bad, it feels really restrictive and harsh. I sort of agree but Jesus we need some sleep. Does anyone have any thoughts? He sleeps in a onesie and a grow bag. Xx

I swaddled both my babies for all naps and all night from birth to 7-8 months. It's common in lots of cultures. If you feel like lack of sleep will make you a worse parent then go for it. We all need to do what we need to do to survive the early months.

We swaddled until about 5 months but I wish I’d stopped earlier as it took my little girl a while to get use to not being swaddled. I’d do whatever gets you some sleep now though. When I say a while was probably only 5 or 6 days but seemed like a lifetime for me 😂
