Ok so my dd2 is 23 months since I had my dd3 7 weeks ago he has started to climb out of the cot. My issue is when my husband is not back from work ( mist nights is 9 pm ish) I am going crazy as I take my daughter down stairs for while my son goes to sleep/ I have put a baby gate on his bedroom door - but I can’t keep going back to him every 2 minutes when I’m trying to feed my screaming baby ! I’m at a dead end /do we scrap the cot and just get a bed , how do i make him realise he needs to stay in bed to sleep .

That's a tough one, I guess you can't stay in the room with him and quietly feed baby in the corner? Can you ask your DH to get home earlier for a couple of weeks to help you out? Wishing you luck.

Time for a bed. Once a child can climb out of their cot it's time to for a bed, I've seen a child fall climbing and hurt themselves badly.

New bed and feed the baby all together while toddler falls asleep as PP suggested?

I remember it well, it's awful. My older DC was younger than yours but I felt it wasn't a battle I needed to fight in the end. Bedtime need to work for all 3 of you and this isn't.

Changed bedtime about a bit so I could snuggle up with both of them on my bed and read a bedtime bedtime story or two while feeding. I had a gate on the door of our room as well as hers for the evenings she wasn't so snuggly. We did stories on our bed for years after I stopped bf, it became a lovely part of the bedtime routine.

Whatever you do, remember that it won't be this intense foreverFlowers

Agree with pp. If a child can climb out of a cot, they shouldn't be in a cot. FAR more likely to hurt themselves falling, climbing out of the cot, than getting out of bed.

And yes, it is time for a bed.

Thanks all for advice - I am in agreement that a bed is in order ! Will be on the case Today
