My 12 day old will not sleep in her crib. I know she is very young and in strange surroundings etc .She will only sleep on one of us so we have to take turns throughout the night holding her. We are obviously tired and worried about what will happen when paternity leave ends the week after next.

Any tips appreciated - how long is this likely to last/tips for getting her to go down?

It could be smell, heat, angle, noise or being held tightly. So try making her crib sheet smell of you by stuffing it next to your skin under your clothes for a few hours, making sure her crib is warm before you put her in it, maybe pre#warm it with a hot water bottle (but you MUST take the hot water bottle out before you put her in) raise the head of the crib on books, so she is at a slight angle, run a fan or white noise app on your phone, swaddle her tightly. Then make sure she is fed burped and dry and put her down and pat her on the tummy until she drifts off.

Have you tried swaddling? Your little one was so used to being curled up in a small space and might be finding the open space too much x

Also have you thought about a sleepyhead/poddle pod? It makes the baby feel like they are being held x

Not that helpful, but may not get better soon. My dd was horrendous. She's just started going into her own bed-with varying success--at 2 and a half!! I was seriously sleep deprived until about 5 weeks when she learnt to breastfeed lying down. Then both her and I got a couple of hours at least. It will get better though, even when you're in the depths of despair. I'm about to have dd2 and dreading the first months. But I look at my dd now and know it was all worth it!! Good luck xx
