10 month old and naps

Keen to hear from someone who has been through the 10 month sleep regression (is there such a thing?!) or teething issues...

My DD has suddenly refused naps past few days....only giving in finally at very late in the afternoon: between 3.30 and 4pm !

Bedtime is usually around 8pm. With a few wake ups until 11pm. She will then sleep till 3am...sometimes through to 8am.... sometimes through to 6am.

Any help much appreciated.

She used to take 90 minutes to 2 hour nap at around 11.30/ midday.

Could you try lots of crawling/playing and fresh air in the morning then after lunch some teething gel/calpol in case that’s what’s bothering her and some wind down time books/singing and rocking for a few mins and see if that helps? If not maybe in the pram for a few days until it passes hopefully?

Thank you. I'll give that a try.
I'm just hoping she hasn't given up her day naps altogether!! I'm sure that's not the case but I've struggled the last few days with not having a minute to myself all day... I take 30 min catnaps at this stage!!!

I hope it resolves. Back onto the choppy seas called Baby!

So tried some of the suggestions... she took a 20 minutes nap yesterday at 3pm that was it!!!
Bedtime from 7.30pm for 30 mins....then from 8.45pm to 12.30 back down at
1am to.....through to waking at 8.30am.

So a good nights sleep but no nap again really!!!
Is it 10 month sleep regression? She's been chewing on things on and off. Top two teeth breaking through too.
I've tried 2 hours after wake up and even 3 but nope!
She used to have 90 mins to 2 hours!

Do some babies nap when they want?

Lost here.....

I'm going through exactly the same thing!!
10 months and has refused to nap more than 30 mins in the morning and won't nap at all in the afternoon! I'm sooooooo annoyed!!

He's overtired for dinner and won't eat, and then over tired for bed and has me up every 45 mins!!

GenevaMaybe · 30/05/2019 17:07

How are you putting her to sleep and what is her routine overall?

londonmummy2019 · 31/05/2019 03:11

At the moment Our routine is typically - with breastfeeds across the day...
Up 8am/8.30am
Breakfast 9

Have found she'll take a nap usually between 11.30 and 12.30...for 90 mins, sometimes 2hours ( have tried 2 hours/ 90 mins after wake up - trust me!!)

Lunch 1
Occasionally an afternoon nap for 30 mins at 3/3.30

Dinner 530

Bathtime 6

Reading books quiet time 6.30 / 7

Bedtime (breastfed)

Down 7.30pm/8

Usually wakes after 30 mins...and then does another 45 mins....and then through to 12/1am and then through to morning usually...8am
----///

Basically It's the naps that have gone to pot for me... night sleep isn't too bad.

Top teeth are coming through. Right one has broken through now - had some relief from that...left is taking a while! She's also in a Leap

She has taken no naps in the past week more than 20 mins or even 5 mins!!!!

Any help much appreciated...similar experience

From 6 months until around 15 months my LO was on a 2-3-4 schedule, ie first nap 2 hours from wake-up, 2nd nap 3 hours from wake up after nap. Maybe her first nap is too late and that’s throwing everything off. If you can keep an eye on her for first signs of sleepiness and get her down for a nap. Not easy if you’ve got older ones too though.

londonmummy2019 · 31/05/2019 07:57

Thanks heaps for your suggestions. Really appreciate them.

I have tried to do that previous - but when she is taking naps it's usually around those times and for 90 mins ... or 2 hours.

Yesterday despite trying....even did an hour walk in the pram...zero nap all day!

Success today! She took a 90 minute nap this morning...

I think it was down to teething.....

She slept through the night as well!

Here's to more great days like this Brew

ConfusedConfused
Well back where I started in May!!

DD is refusing day naps again! She's now nearly 11 months. She had 4 teeth through ...and I think more on the way! Chewing on hands a lot!

Am I getting her signs wrong? Feel like she only naps when she wants to!!!

She yawned 90 mins after a 8am wake up yesterday and I tried for a nap and she refused..

Help me someone!!! I can't do anything!!!

I think trying for a nap 90 mins after wake up at that age won’t work. My little one yawns half an hour after waking up but couldn’t nap until at least 2/2 and a half hours after waking, she’s ten months old. If she is waking at 8 try starting a quiet nap routine at around 10.15am. Book or lullaby on while you change nappy and a few minutes cuddling or rocking and then try putting her down. If she doesn’t sleep maybe get her up and try again 30 mins later. I use to stress about my little ones naps but just learnt to acccept it for what it is now. Good luck

I agree, I think your awake windows are off.
I’d go for
7am wake
9.50-10.10am nap
12.30-2.30pm nap
6.45pm bed

londonmummy2019 · 14/06/2019 10:41

She wakes between 8 and 8.30 most mornings....so will try from 10/1030 even 11am see how I go.

She had a regular pattern of 3 hours awake and then 90 min nap which she woke really happy after.....

Teething is really throwing everything out the window at the moment...and it's knocking my confidence!
