DD falls asleep face down

My DD has fallen asleep face down a few times....when I say face down, I mean face flat on the mattress. She’s 6 months old, but this is freaking me out!! I’m too scared to put her in her own room, or even the next to me crib in case I don’t notice and something happens. We’ve been co sleeping as a way of getting through the 4 month regression (not over it yet). I don’t feel like I can risk not checking on her every five minutes incae she’s too tired to help herself. She can roll onto her tummy fine and can do push ups, but isn’t sure how to roll back.

My 6 month old sis this for about a week, he doesn't seem to now. As long as I could hear him breathing (always could) I was happy. Also he didn't stay that way for long, normally turned his head to the side.
I was confident he had good head control tho, even when tired.

My DD did this, still does now age 6!
It freaked me out so much when she was little that i tried it myself to make sure i could still breathe.
Turns out that your nose is a very clever design so you can :-)

Thank you for the comments - definitely reassuring. I can’t sleep for the constant checking.....and disturbing her when I can’t settle for worry.

It’s bizarre- it’s like, how is that even comfy, you silly little munchkin!!

Mine has slept on his front with his knees up pretty much from when he was able to crawl and move around. The HV said they’re in that position in the womb so it’s familiar and comfortable. As long as he’s on a firm mattress with no blankets it’s fine. As long as the head is to the side and you can see the uncovered nose so you know he’s breathing.

@raptorwhiskers - that was the problem, her head wasn’t to the side, she has fallen asleep with her face down on the mattress. It is a flat surface, but it still worries me. She has v good head control etc. She definitely seems more comfy on her tummy, but it’s the face down on the mattress thing that is the worry.

When DS puts his face down I gently turn his head to the side. Sometimes he wakes up but that’s ok. I don’t feel comfortable with him sleeping face down. He’s getting used to putting his face to the side now.
