Co-sleeping 10month baby, introducing cot and getting us a new bed to match the cot height

Hello dear mommies,

our son when younger refused 'next to me' or any other bed and slept only on our chests and slept little. He has become a better sleeper now and the only thing that worked was cosleeping. For our sanity sake we didnt mind till we were in India with family, the beds there are huge! Back in the UK he has refused cot, the moment i put him down, just the drop of height wakes him up, he is an incredibly light sleeper. DH has been moved to the guest room so baby and i can cosleep. To introduce cot to him, I am thinking of getting a platform bed (lower height one) so i can open his one side of the cot and attach it to our bed so he gets his space while being close to us. Has anyone tried this or did anything else work for you. please advice. grateful for the tips

I think if you look on YouTube you can find a video showing how to attach an Ikea cot onto a double bed.

Why on earth dont you reduce the height of the cot? Change the legs or shorten them?
Cheaper than buying a new bed.

A cot at the lowest setting shouldn't be too far off the height of a mattress on the floor. I did that, although not until later.

Whoops, to answer your actual question- yes, it worked gradually. Eventually, DH had to take over cosleeping with DD for a while, which helped as she wasn't really interested in hanging out with him in the middle of the night.

We have an IKEA Sniglar with one side removed attached to our bed - so it’s like side car co-sleeping. Even for somebody who’s really not handy (me!), it’s pretty easy to remove a side and attach the cot.
