but I'm so chuffed - it looks likes DS3 is finally start to sleep longer at night - I put him down in his carry cot last night (downstairs) at 9.30 for his 'evening' nap - usually as between 2-3hrs - at 12.20 DH (who does the 12(ish) and "pre 4am" feed decided to take the carrycot upstairs so he could go to bed as he wasn't showing signs of waking up anytime soon.

He woke up at 2.50!......usually when he's had a really long stretch like that (he's had a couple in the last week) he's then awake for AGES and DH is sitting downstairs like zombie with a bubbly baby waiting for him to go to sleep - not last night - apparently DH was back in bed by 3.30! And I didn't have to get up until 6.30!!!

Fingers crossed that it lasts......

That's ace Fanny!

My 7 month old slept through (9.30-5.30) for the first time last night as well!! Must be something in the air.

fannyannie · 16/07/2007 10:27

actually I shouldn't really say "finally" - he is only 7 1/2 weeks old - mind you I don't expect him to sleep through the night yet as he's still only little......well he did last night really - nearly 6 hours (could have done with that from his "usual" 12am feed until the morning LOL. But it's good to know his little tummy can cope with sleeping a bit longer now.

Nothing wrong with being pleased about it! IMO.

fannyannie · 16/07/2007 12:21

ok - then I'll be chuffed then

Fab news both of you....did you not wake up 3 times anyway yourselves so you are actually no less tired thean usual!! Thats what i did anyway when DS first started going through.

fannyannie · 16/07/2007 12:33

nope - I'm one of those horrible mummies who, when she knows she doesn't have to get up (DH does "pre 4am" - I do "post 4am") will stir briefly when he wakes - look at the time and then go back to sleep.........and as we usually got to bed around 12am (when DS3 usually wakes for his 'prebed' milk) so only get woken up 2 times in the night (one time I just ignore ).

You've got it sorted with your dh, haven't you Fannyannie?
Mine will attempt to help with nights but he tends to do it in such a way that I have to get up as well - eg leave ds crying in his cot while he goes downstairs to make up a feed. However he deals with dd if she wakes up and is pretty good the rest of the time, so I can forgive him for not having much of a talent for night feeds

Hairybabysmum - only woke up once

thehairybabysmum · 16/07/2007 13:27

in my book that makes you a highy sensible mummy, not a horrible one!!!

bagsundereyes · 16/07/2007 13:42

congrats to kathy and fannyannie! as the mum of a committed non-sleeper i love to hear success stories as they fill me with hope .

Kathyis6incheshigh · 16/07/2007 17:00

Hang on in there, Bagsundereyes!

Now I should apologise to Fannyannie for muscling in on her thread. Sorry Fanny!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 17/07/2007 11:03

Fannyannie how was last night? We got 7 1/2 hours, so not bad!

fannyannie · 17/07/2007 13:05

not quite as good - I managed to get him down to sleep (in his cot!) at 9.25 he slept until about 2am. Then DH was up with him until about 3.30 - he was wide awake apparently, he was then up for me at 5.20.....still at least he's getting one longer stretch of sleep in now

well done ds3!!! he'll get their in the end

Kathyis6incheshigh · 17/07/2007 13:20

Yeah as long as you get the magic four hour stretch you can keep going, I find - it's when you only get lots of silly little 1s and 2s and 3s that you start to go mental.
Fingers crossed he'll be better again tonight!

fannyannie · 17/07/2007 13:49

now if we could make that magic 4hr stretch at the time that DH and I are asleep..............
