6 month old suddenly screaming at bed time

Hi all - my LO is 6 months and the last few nights he has literally screamed himself to sleep each night. His routine has remained exactly the same - bath, bottle and bed. Usually once he’s had his bottle he’s awake but happy. I then put him in his cot and he’ll self settle. It can take about 15 mins but he never cries. However the last few nights the moment I put him in his cot he’ll scream until he falls asleep (usually around 10mins) any ideas why? Or anyone had something similar?

Heart burn? Raise the mattress with a towel

I don’t think so as he goes down fine for his naps? Just seems to be at bed time...

Teething? Separation anxiety? Ear ache?

If he settles when you go back to him but starts again when you leave I really wouldn't worry to much if he's asleep within 10 minutes. He's just beginning to work out what he can and can't control.

Crying isn't a choice when they are very young, they just cry when things don't feel right.

At around 6 months they are beginning to realise the power of those cries, but still can't 'choose' to stop. It will probably stop as quickly as it started if, after making sure her is alright, you leave him to it, popping back in every few minutes, and then leaving again.

He settled when I picked him up the first time but immediately screamed when I put him back down. If I go in and try and pat him/stroke him he keeps on crying.

Is he teething?

Rachel1210 · 20/04/2019 19:34

Yes I think he is teething...but he’s fine during naps?

If teething can you try those lower things? Something and Parsons? Someone else will know what I mean!!

Powder not lower

Ashton and Parsons.

Brilliant stuff. Don’t waste money on any other teething powder.
