10 month old still frequently wakes up screaming hysterically in the night

Does anyone else's baby do this? She's been doing it since she was a newborn, on and off. She did it Monday night, she was in bed by about 8pm -awake! For the first time, and went to sleep herself - but then up 11pm-1am. When she does it, it takes aaaages to get her back to sleep as she calms down eventually but then sets of screaming again whenever you try to put her in her cotbed. She a drink of water from her sippy cup but then screamed again. She hadn't done a poo. We offered milk but she wasn't hungry she only drank about an ounce and screamed again. Eventually we gave 2.5ml ibuprofen, dunno if it helped or not, eventually got her back down around 1am and she slept til 9am. Tuesday night she was in bed about 8pm put down awake, slept all night til 9am Wednesday. Last night she was in bed about 8pm put down asleep, woke at 11pm again and wasn't back in bed asleep til 12.30am, no poo, did have a bottle think she drank about 5oz so maybe was hungry as hardly ate any dinner and only 4oz of milk before bed. But some nights she hardly eats dinner, only drinks 4oz milk, and then still sleeps fine all night. It seems totally random. She's doing this more and more the older she gets, she didn't hardly ever have feeds in the night from being about 8 weeks old other than a few blips but since she started nursery about 6 weeks ago she is waking up more in the night screaming and having a few bottles in the night a week, usually on nights after nursery because she is so tired afterwards she doesn't eat enough dinner or milk before bed. She can find her own dummy now 90 per cent of the time, so thankfully the waking every 30 mins all night long has been a thing of the past for the last 2 months or so but that has coincided with more hysterical night waking and more night feeds too. GP months ago seemed concerned and baffled by her night time scream fests, she has a paeds appt but not until she's 1 as the wait was so long (referred 3 months ago!).

You have my every sympathy. I had similar with DS2 - he bought me to my knees!! and I found most health professionals quite blasé even the pead.

maybe other posters will be able to suggest some medical things to try?

maybe she needs more water during the day?
maybe her poohs are too hard and you need to give her certain foods to soften them a bit?

maybe she's got some sort of like colic and you need some sort of a regular medicine to stop the stomach aches she's having?

Hope you get it sorted soon! Thanks

When did he stop it?! It's not even so much the exhaustion for us anymore because I'm finding it less exhausting going to bed at 1 and waking at 6.45 for work because at least it's an uninterrupted block of sleep compared to her waking every hour or more for her dummy even tho I would be in bed 10pm-7am iyswim. I mean it is tiring but not as much as the dummy runs. But it's just really stressful and upsetting seeing her like this all the time and feeling so helpless. Some nights DH and I are both crying as well. We both really thought by this age it would have stopped. :( She had Infacol but not as much now since she started nursery as they don't give it with the two bottles she has there Mon-Wed. It seems to make some difference as she seems worse both times we've tried to take her off it. She does struggle to pass her poos sometimes and she had a bout of proper constipation last week. But we can't get her to drink much water and I already give prunes or pears every day Friday-Sunday when I have her and I don't want to start laxatives as it's a complicated road to go down. She's been on Gaviscon before and ranitidine and neither did anything although the Gaviscon made her badly constipated. Health visitor is beyond useless and we can never get in touch with her! GP is lovely but doesn't think there's anything else she can do hence the referral. I don't know anyone else whose baby does this or has done this, it feels like we must be doing something wrong but I guess I'm not the only one if you had it too!
