Hi,

So you know when you feel your the only parent in the world going through this, but you know your not! Who else is with me and their toddler plays up going to bed! It's like "one more cuddle mummy" "mummy stay" "mummy sleep on the floor" etc etc!
Don't get me wrong I always give another cuddle if requested but leaving the room can be a battle on its own! I just feel by the time she falls asleep it's getting later and later!
I would love to hear I'm not alone, or any advice on what would work well for a 2.5 year old! I admit she can be quite clingy so am not surprised by half of this but ah mummy needs her time too!

pipnchops I am usually starving by the time DS goes to bed and so have no desire whatsoever to linger with him while he doses off. Can’t eat earlier as there is only an hour between picking him up from nursery (where he has already eaten) and starting the bedtime routine. We play together for that hour.

DD is 19mo and won't go to sleep by herself so I sit by her cot til she's asleep but sometimes it takes an hour :( I can't even go on my phone cos the slightest bit of light will be used an excuse to stay awake (She never wants to sleep). I use the time to do pelvic floor exercises Grin

Jessie yeah I can understand it doesn't work for everyone and if so then it's a battle you choose, to try and encourage your child to go to sleep without you there. Personally for me that battle wasn't worth fighting and we have at least all eaten by the time my DC go to bed. If we hadn't then things would be different and we may have chosen to fight that battle. But my DC are so stubborn I know it wouldn't have been pretty!

@Happyspud bit more of a positive evening i can thankfully say! We done the usual story out of bed, then one in bed and sang songs etc then when time to go I said il come back etc and to be honest maybe 4/5 times I had to but I felt better for it! Did get the odd shouting in between and usual "I need a wee""I need a poo" "I don't want my nappy on" etc but we got there in the end!

@JessieMcJessie exactly the same here it seems - well minus the cot etc! Does it take him long to settle after? I don't mind reading 2 stories etc, I would happily do a 3rd if she would go straight to sleep that is!

Great! Freedom is just around the corner:) soon you’ll be the one deciding the start and end of bedtime.

I had this problem too. Then i started saying mummys got to do the washing up, I'll be back in 5 minutes. She'd be asleep by the time I came back!
