Naps at nursery

DS is 24 months, nursery have started to say he won't nap. He definitely still needs it and has it when at home. He's so tired after a nursery day.

My view us they're not trying hard enough/ aren't creating a quiet enough space for him to sleep as it's just part of the room.

Is this the norm.. or am I right to push them to try harder??

It’s the norm really, when my DS moved to toddler room at nursery the nap area was just in a corner so everyone who wasn’t napping was still playing in the room etc.
He would have about 10/15 mins and then wake up!

Hmm. DD is 23 months and only naps for half an hour at nursery. Luckily this is just about enough that she can cope reasonably ok with the rest of the day, but I know she needs more because at home she sleeps for 2+ hours.

It's really frustrating because it means that I really have to prioritise her naps on the non nursery days or it all spirals into overtired awfulness.

Sorry. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm here in solidarity!

I’m really surprised that a couple of you have said that there is no dedicated sleeping room - I find that really poor! Of course they’re less likely to go to sleep if it’s not dark and there are other children playing! I guess it will be hard for you to do anything about it unless they have a suitable space they can use for sleeping. I would definitely be having serious words with the nursery though - whilst some children do stop napping at an early age it’s important for them to sleep if they need it as your child does. I hope you get it sorted.
