Overflowing nappies

Hi, not sure if there was a better topic to post this in.

I have a 6 month old baby. I usually use the Pampers baby dry nappies on her and they are decent enough during the day. However, as much as they claim to last 12 hours, they don't. DD sleeps very well overnight now so would happily sleep from 7pm to 7am. However, by 4am i quite often have to get up to change her as she's normally leaked everywhere. So giving her a bath at 4am as she's covered in poo and wee is becoming quite normal. Also it's disrupting her sleep as she understandably doesn't want to lie in it.

Do i just have to accept an extra nappy change in the early hours (i really just want my sleep back now...), or are there better nappies out there which will actually contain it all?

Could you change her stealthily when you go bed? Might be time to go up a size also

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 28/03/2019 07:13

If she has a dirty nappy then I would change but for just pee I wouldn’t
I would try a size up or try a size+

I would use size 4 during the day and 4+ at night, we use mostly Aldi nappies

If she's poo'd you need to change, otherwise look at "overnight" nappies. I used cloth which lasted fine

TheLastPharl · 28/03/2019 07:27

I found going up a size for night nappies stopped the leaks. Although if a nappy is dirty then that would have to be changed.

I didn’t find Pampers to very good. Aldi are far superior. I’ve also found Tesco own brand to be pretty good.

I find the pampers premium protection nappies were better then the baby dry ones.
Also could you change nappy when you go to bed?

avidreader4 · 28/03/2019 07:33

Thanks for your responses.

She currently weighs approx 9-10kg and the size 4s she has should fit 9kg-14kg, so they shouldn't be too small. Maybe i will try the 4+ size then and hope that helps.

Otherwise i'll have to start looking at other brands.

@lovewatchingrainfall I used to use the premium protection ones but found they leaked more. I change her nappy literally 2 minutes before i put her down for the night, so she always goes to bed with a completely dry nappy.

Sorry i misread your post. You said when I go to bed. She's always fast asleep when i go to bed and i really don't want to wake her up as she gets upset if i do that.

You would leave her in a poo? Most people don’t do that.

It’s a stage where you probably will have to change her nappy in the night but it will pass.

avidreader4 · 28/03/2019 08:22

@MummySharkBabyShark at what point did i say i'd leave her in poo? Obviously i will change the nappy if she needs it. It's more that she's covered in poo by the time she wakes up and cries about it, hence needing a bath at 4am. I shouldn't have to bathe her at 4am most days surely.

In your op you said you were up at 4am giving your baby a bath as she was covered in wee and poo. I thought that meant you expected a nappy to cope with a poo as well as wee at night without a change. Obviously if there is poo in the nappy you will have to change it no matter if it is full of wee or not.

FWIW We use a size bigger and + and that seems to work but our DC only does weed at night. Good luck with your problem. Hope you get it sorted.
