Nap schedule

Any tips on how to get your LO one a nap schedule? At the moment DS is napping when I notice he's getting tired and I'm not sure how to get him to nap at the same times every day

Maybe start with getting him up at the same time every day then the first nap should fall at the same time if he gets tired after a couple of hours then on from there?

Try huckleberry app, worked for us.

How old?

How old is he? If he’s got a natural rhythm you’ll probably spot it and can start setting “cues” (something you do/say each time just before a nap, a 5 min routine is abosoluteky plenty and it doesn’t need to be elaborate). Seconding huckleberry if you need help tracking to spot patterns.

He's just over two months which I know is probably too soon to be trying to get him to nap on a schedule but waiting for him to get tired on his own just isn't working and he is always over tired and grumpy, I downloaded the huckleberry app and it looks so helpful! Definitely going to be trying that

Mine did have a routine at that age, but it completely shifted at 12 weeks and then again at 4 months, so you’ll have to be ready to be flexible. Things change very quickly at that age, sometimes in only a week or two. The schedule DD had at 2 months was basically a pattern of naps at a certain time after she woke, but the length was unpredictable for all except her afternoon nap. At 12 weeks, she switched to a classic pattern of awake times (1hr then nap, 1hr then nap, 1hr 15 then nap, 1hr 30 then nap, 2hr then nap, 1hr 30 then big sleep but still quite broken night with a dirty nappy at 4am) with all her naps being only one sleep cycle to start with. That’s pretty classic sleep regression territory I think. Once they’ve gone through that they are awake more and more predictable I think.
