Hairdryer White Noise

My 4 month old will only calm down to sleep in his crib if he is listening to the hair dryer. I really want to find an app or white noise machine that works instead but am really struggling. We have even tried recording our hairdryer and playing it back to him but that doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There are lots of white noise options on spotify, have you tried that?

Do you mean you haven't found suitable apps, or that they're not working as well on the baby as the real hairdryer?

I've got an app called Sleep Aid Fan - it has three different fan noises to choose from, with different volume options. I find it really good (and the if the loudest setting isn't loud enough, you could always use speakers...)

Sorry for not explaining properly. I think it's the fact that nothing we try seems to work as well as the hairdryer. The speakers might work though, could be a volume thing.

I'm sure you'll be careful but noise coming through a speaker I would think have higher risk to baby's hearing than a hair dryer.

There is an app called ‘baby sleep’ that we used and that has a hairdryer setting.

I think one of the settings on Myhummy is a hairdryer one.

You want this white noise machine from amazon:

AVANTEK Sleep White Noise... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01NBSUCZ0?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

I used to use an app (sound sleeper) for babies 1&2, which is a great app, and even has the microphone feature so the noise starts when it hears noise - so when baby cries, the white noise kicks in. BUTTTT it's too much of a pain to sacrifice your phone all the time, so you want a dedicated white noise machine, and this one is exceptional. Lots of different sounds/volumes/fantastic timer. Three kids in and it's by far the best baby thing I've bought - £30 well spent!

My DS was exactly the same as a baby. Only the hairdryer would work.

So we just gave in and used the hairdryer.

It didn't last forever.

I have the hairdryer for babies app on my phone

I love it! Blush

Ds2 sometimes gets anxious about stuff and can't sleep (he's 13) and even now it works brilliantly
