Is the Sleepyhead worth the money?

I'm sure its been discussed here a lot before, but wanted to ask all you lovely Mummys who used a sleepyhead, was it worth the money?

Im expecting DC2 in almost 3 weeks. My DS1 will only have been turned 12 months (crazy, I know!), so I want to give anything a go that will help aid newborn sleep. My son wasnt the best sleeper for the first 5-6 months, although he is great now (most of the time). He napped in the moses basket downstairs and slept at night time in the next to me crib.

As we will have two babies, I want to try and make sure our new one sleeps better if possible. I know the sleepyhead can be known to be an overpriced gimmick but have also read SO many positive things about it.

Thank in advance x

DS2 loved the sleepyhead when he was first born but at about the 6 week mark started waking as soon as I put him down, regardless of where that was, so for us it wasn't worth it, but others rave about it. I didn't want to use it for nighttime sleep as was concerned it was only meant to be used under supervision, but depends on what you're comfortable with.

I had a purflo nest but we were the same as PP: napped happily in it up to 5-6 weeks but wouldn’t settle in it after that. Never tried at night/in crib due to safety but I know some people use them in cots/cribs andswear by them.

Didn't work for us and was a faff with breastfeeding - so much easier to lie down and feed in the night! Impossible to do that with a sleepyhead. The cat loved it though.

Yes, excellent cat bed. Rubbish human one

It didn’t work for my daughter. No miracles, alas.

Try to buy it second hand - I had to import mine new from Spain as I couldn’t find it here (Portugal). Thankfully I managed to resell it to another desperate expat mother Wink

First baby slept great in it. Second baby not keen! I’m not sure it really made a difference- I think I just had one good sleeper and one bad sleeper!

I also had Purflo rather than sleepyhead and my first loved it, second not so much. Used it everynight until eldest was over 6 months and took it on all holidays with us whereas second child has slept in it a handful of times at best. Funnily enough, my second is generally the better sleeper of the 2!

My DS is now 7 months. He's been sleeping in the sleepyhead from birth for both naps and nighttime. I highly recommend it as it really does help him feel cozy and secure. P.s. it fits nicely in the Chico next-to-me crib.

I purchased a purflo after good recommendations from others. My Lo only settled in it about twice. But then my baby liked to have her hands free so I think she found it too restrictive. Might be better for babies that like the feeling of being swaddled.

Sleephead saved my sanity for about 8 months - then she started sleeping in my bed 😂 so yes 1000% worth the money
