Alright, we need help. Here is the situation. Four weeks ago we took our 3 year old DD(dear daughter)(dear daughter) to the dentist for the first time. She did amazing, but the dentist told us that the bink was moving her teeth, and suggested we work on taking it away. At this point she only has the bink for nap and bed. She was sleeping sou dly through the night (12-13 hrs) and taking decent naps. (Also sleeping with her door fully closed) We decided to go cold turkey with the bink. (BIG MISTAKE) She hadnt slept well since.

Our nightly routine has not changed. The kids eat dinner, then have a bath. Once pj's are on and kisses are given, we lay her down in bed. We have a HatchBaby Rest that glows red and plays music through the night. She also has two small night lights. (This is instead of having the overhead light on. It took a week to get her ok with juat the night lights at night, not the overhead) We sing two songs and read a book or two. We then repeat that DD(dear daughter)(dear daughter) needs to stay in bed. We are ok if she doesn't fall asleep right away. She can play quietly, read books, or use the little potty in her room, but she has to stay in her room and stay quiet.

This is where the fun begins. We then get up to leave. She immediately asks for Momma to come back. Some days I can make it to the door, other times I only make it a few steps away before she starts asking. If I make it to the door, she insists the door be left open. Usually I can get it part way closed without too much fuss. Lately she will stay im bed and be quiet for an hour or more, but inevitably she creeps out of bed and finds us (we are usually eating dinner (the kids have been eating really early lately, before 5) so we have a snack while they eat their dinner, then eat ours after they go to bed). We get up and escort her back to bed. The past few nights she has gone back quietly by herself. If I have to escort her back to her room, she usually goes quietly but then after she is back in bed she insists on Momma come back. I try to have aslittle interaction with her as possible, but I do reassure her that I will come back and check on her if she is quiet and stays in bed. Now it could go one of two ways.

First, she could lay quietly, insist on the door being open, and allow me to leave the room. She then will reapear in the living room anywhere fron 10 mins to 2 hrs latter.

Or

Second, as soon as I tale a step away from the bed she starts screaming. Bouncing up and down on the bed screaming. If I continue to move towards the door, the screams increase in intensity and volume(if that was pissible). The closer I get to the door, the more likely she is to hop out of bed and run over to me. When she does this I put her back in bed without saying anything and attempt to leave the room again. Repeat this about 100 times at least. If i can get to the door I wait out where she cant see me for the inevitable opening of her door. All the while she is screaming and shrieking. When she comes the door I dont say anything, just point to her bed and follow her till she gets back in. I then attempt to leave the room again.

This can go on for hours. (As I type this she is screming. Its nap time.) We have tried stickers, special treats, and lately use of the family tablet. (This is what she is screaming about currently) All rewards are only given if she stays in bed. If we try to let her work it out, she will close the door (which she insisted on being open, only so she can bang on it with hands, feet, or toys. We have tried removing the door and only having a baby gate across her door, but she just stands ther and screams and it is hard to clumb over constantly. We alsao are reluctant to let her carry on for too long as she wnds up waking up her little brother. There are some nights where he can sleep through it, but its not fair to bn him for his sleep to be interupted.

We are at our wits end and dont k ow what to do. Any help is appreciated. I am a stay at home mom and try to give her more attention during the day, but it doesnt seem to be helping.

When we took my daughter's dummy away she stopped napping in the day but would then go to sleep easily at night. Is it worth a try?

We today she didnt nap, and she went to sleep pretty fast, but had been up 3 times already. I think she might be asleep now... but I dont dare peek in to see if she is. ATM she doesnt have a door, she broke the hinge during a temper tantrum earlier today (stupid cheap hollow door, she managed to pull the screws from the hing out of the wood of the door) She was throwing toys at the door while I rocked down our DS.

Does she have another form of comforter? Like a stuffed animal? It sounds like that is what she needs, obviously the hard part is finding the right thing! My daughter’s never really taken to a particular stuffed animal but usually sleeps with one.

She has a small security blanket with a penguin head and flippers that she cant sleep without. I'm afraid now its more become habbit to get up rather than go back to sleep.
