Self settling non sleeper!

Hello ladies.
1st time mum to DS 7months. EBF and always been a terrible sleeper.
I was under the impression that if I 'taught him to self settle' he would sleep better so about 4 weeks ago I started with a bottle of formula before bed, and he now settles himself happily to sleep with a dummy in snuzpod next to my bed. However it has made no difference whatsoever 😕 He goes to bed about 7:30 but then then wakes hourly and will only settle again with boob.
Any suggestions? I'm worried as I'm back to work in 4 weeks which will mean I'll be working shifts so sometimes won't be home until 11pm. Poor little man is going to be screaming the house down with DH until I'm home 😢

Has DH tried settling him with you in another room. It’s amazing how babies react differently for Dads.

Hi! Sorry late reply! Yes we have been trying with DH giving him bottle and putting him to bed and that part has gone surprisingly well 😊 but he wakes 1-2 hourly after that and DH tries to re-settle him but he just gets hysterical 😩 We tried for over an hour last night...I was down stairs and DH was in bedroom trying pick up/pick down, shush pat, rocking him etc but to no avail when we decided he was just getting too upset. Literally the 2nd I took him he practically 'collapsed' with exhaustion and latched on and fell asleep prior to milk let down 😢
Just don't know what to do. I'm a nurse and back to work in 3.5 weeks when I'll work shifts 3-11pm three days week.
