Sleep and dummy.

My daughter is 27months old and just after her second birthday I went cold turkey and got rid of her dummy. She only ever had it for naps and bed time. Since getting rid of it, she no longer has a nap in the day (she would have about 1.5-2 hr sleep) she gets so tired and frustrated and over tired by the time it's bedtime, which then becomes a bit of a battle as she's in a bed. (recent move) As she's still little I know it's really important that she still has a nap as she's not able to regulate her emotions and she clearly still needs a nap to function well.

She is still asking for her dummy back after more than three months of not having it.
Once she is asleep at night she is generally a good sleeper, but has been getting up earlier and then being overtired for most of the day as she refuses to nap in the day.

I'm seriously debating getting her a dummy so she can have a nap in the day and settle down easier at night time. However I know I'll eventually have to get her to give it up again, but I know that at an older age she'll be able to understand more and will be able to regulate her emotions better.

I would just like a bit of advice of what people would do in this situation and whether we battle on with a very over tired strong willed 2 year old or just give in and let her have a dummy back. All advice is greatly received 😀

That's a toughie!! My DS had a dummy to sleep only til he was 3y3m. I didn't take it away as he was having major surgery at 3y3m so thought it a good idea to keep it.

Bizarrely, he came out of hosp and handed me his dummies a couple of days later. I was gobsmacked (and grateful), he said these are for a baby, I'm a big boy now.

Not sure the advice, would probs stick with, but ive never seen a school kid with a dummy!!

Ps he is now 15, but I still have his dummies in a bag in my bedside table!! No idea why!!
