Where does baby sleep during day?

Dd is 8 weeks and very long (>95 percentile), now barely fits in Moses basket or carrycot from pram. Guidelines say to sleep on same room for first six months, but can’t fit a whole cot bed in lounge. What other options are there? And is it safe to put her in reclinng chair in push chair during walks now? If she kicks the carrycot, she practically bangs her head on the other end. But not holding head up yet.

You can usually buy an infant insert for the seat in the pram to make it more baby friendly - my DS wasn’t tall but hated the carrycot so moved him around 10 weeks.

I’d put down for naps in cot and closely monitor on screen and check ups.

DS slept in same room at night but if could put him down in cot during the day would have. It’s a good thing that your baby doesn’t want to sleep on you!

Mostly on me. DD was a similar size and up her own in the pushchair in the hallway. Door was open and I was always walking past/checking she was breathing.

A word of warning if you have tall child. Making sure you choose your stage 1+ car seat carefully if you want them to be extended rear facing until 4.

Our bedroom would be on the second level, not practical to go up and down all day, also not quite ready to have her be away and like her being used to day routine (Hoover, chatter, etc) in lounge Confused

I've just bought a compact travel cot by Redkite which comes with a newborn bassinet insert as DD can't sit herself up yet but now does not fit in the Moses basket. One of my best purchases!

The Tiny Love 3 in 1 Napper is great for daytime sleeps.

With dc1 I wrapped a spare padded change mat in a blanket and lay it on the floor and swaddled her

Ikea do a really cheap smaller cot. Could you squeeze one in a corner downstairs? Alternatively a travel cot?

What about a toddler size poddle pod?

randomsabreuse · 18/01/2019 11:07

Travel cot. We have 2. Hauck is long and thin, red kite is more square. Currently daytime sleep is on me more than anywhere else...

Actually if I didn't have a toddler or a dog, a blanket on the floor would be fine. DD used to pass out on the floor in preference to being "put" somewhere to sleep. Usually about 2 minutes after I'd given up on a nap and put her down on the floor to get ready to go out...

I use a sleepyhead on the sofa

Lipsticktraces · 18/01/2019 11:28

On the sofa when I can get my twins to nap, which hardly ever happensSad

Thank you - travel cot seems like a good option, any recommendation for one that rocks?
