9 week old sleep routine

My DD is 9 weeks old and generally wakes up twice during the night. I know that this is not unreasonable but noticed a lot of comments on here about other babies going for stretches of 6 or 7 hours, I’m just so wondering if there is anything I can do to try and encourage this with my DD.

We don’t have a strict routine as such. We were previously bathing her around 8/8.30 and it was straight to bed with a bottle afterwards. A poster on another thread suggested bringing bath time forward as it may be over stimulating her so I’ve been doing it around 7/7.30 for the last week. Then we will read a book and have a bottle around 8.30/9 depending on her last feed time. I haven’t noticed any difference in length of sleep following the movement of bath time.

She generally falls asleep around 10, wakes about 12/12.30 and then again about 4. Wake time will be about 7.30/8. Ideally I’d love it if the 4am stretched to 6am.

I know that I am lucky getting a few hour stretches at a time so not complaining but just interested to compare with what other parents are doing to see if there are any tweaks I can make to our evenings to try and encourage a slightly longer sleep - if not for now, then in the future.

Thanks

Personally OP, I think your routine sounds good, and your LO is sleeping for really decent stretches. We do bath, feed and bed - doesn't seem overstimulating and she goes down with some rocking and white noise about 7.30. She was sleeping 7-11-4-7, which was brilliant. 11 was a dream feed, have you tried one of those?

We are currently experiencing 4 month regression with hourly wake ups. Not everyone goes through it, but I guess it's worth bearing in mind that things change such a lot when they're this small and getting hung up on stretching sleep longer could be futile!

I haven’t tried a dream feed but she will usually stir around that time anyway... unless she hasn’t actually settled by then anyway (that makes for a tougher night, getting a wee hour or so sleep before then makes a big difference for me!)

To be fair, I know that the hours that we are getting aren’t bad at all. Feel a bit bad complaining because the first few weeks were she wouldn’t sleep at all in her own bed are still fresh in my mind! I’m trying to stay relaxed about it and not compare with those lucky other folk that are getting longer stretches.

The 4 month sleep regression is hanging over me - I fear it! Hope it passes for you soon!
