I'm on my knees with tiredness. DS's sleep has gradually got worse. We are now at the point where he will only sleep for longer than 40 mins if held. I am averaging about 2.5 hrs broken sleep. I cannot carry on. DS is not a happy baby anymore either.
I have found a gentle sleep consultant. Anybody done this? I'm desperate

Have you tried cosleeping? Be careful of ‘gentle sleep consultants’. Look into Kerry Cares/Care it Out.

Co sleeping makes no difference unfortunately

No experience here but I found 'Just Chill Mama' on Instagram yesterday and she has some good videos and tips. We are currently 'ok' in terms of sleep at night but he fights every nap during the day!

Get a sleep consultant or maternity nurse for some help. I don't regret it and the personalised plan really helps. Good luck!

Definitely get some help!! This sounds exhausting and you can absolutely still control the process but a sleep consultant will be able to help you and spot the issues. There are some great ones out there. We used one and would do it again in a split second! Best of luck.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately DS has suspected CMPA (I'm really beating myself up for not realising sooner. I should have questioned his nappies but I didnt and feel awful). I have found a consultant I like but she says I need to get this sorted first (understandably).

Is baby bf? If so then it could be a while before you see a difference because it can take up to 6 weeks for all dairy to leave his system.

Mississippilessly · 19/01/2019 20:36

Yes he is. I know. I have cried a lot. I really thought light was at the end if the tunnel with the consultant

If he has cmpa it's possible he has silent reflux too. You looked into that? My dd had both and would only sleep at an angle, never flat, ideally vertically in baby carrier! Some Signs are not wanting to be flat, hates tummy time, does little gulps (hard to notice but is swallowing the acid/sick down again).

Mississippilessly · 19/01/2019 20:51

He has been on meds for silent reflux before but it didnt make much difference (tho if he has cmpa that would be ehy) he is now ba k on meds and I have gone dairy free.
He managed a 6 hr street h in his crib kart week. Would she be able to do that if he was in pain? I dont know whether to keep trying or just kst him slesp on his tummy on me- ae got 2hr chunks like that last night.

If suspected cmpa then chances are that baby cant tolerate soya either (as the protein is very similar) I would cut out both and once things improve then re-introduce soya into your diet.

Also start back on the reflux meds ASAP (omeprazole worked best for us) - you can wean off when things settle

But a reflux wedge from Amazon or wedgehog website

Put baby in jumeproo during the day after feeds to keep upright to help with the reflux

Also give baby probiotics - the biogai drops are easy to administer

Hopefully you will start seeing improvement but it may take a couple of weeks

You have my sympathy , it's bloody horrendous Thanks

We went with a sleep consultant and she helped us massively. Ds was waking initially in pain but after a few weeks of it, it was habit and she helped us to get him sleeping through. She was very good and listened to what we felt comfortable with. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Mississippilessly · 20/01/2019 00:40

Thanks so much everyone, that's really helpful. Will get him on probiotics. We have bought a jumperoo I just need to pick it up. Currently being clawed at and it really hurts.

Good luck, if anyone can help during the day then try get a nap in yourself. It's just about getting through this difficult time

Mississippilessly · 20/01/2019 08:11

There isn't really anyone that would help apart from my nct friends but they have their own to worry about.
I have a doctor's appt tomorrow for my mental health. Truth be told I think I'm just exhausted..
