My little boy has started waking up between 2am and 3am every night and refusing to go back down. He's done this since the beginning of December...... milk doesn't help, I don't talk to him, I'll put bonjela on when I think it's his teeth, I sit on the bed in his room cuddling him but he just wriggles and cries to get down. This goes on for at least 2 to 3 hours.....
I work full time as a secondary teacher and so on the nights he gets up at 3 and won't go down til 6am I'm then getting ready for work.
Does anyone have any advice at all? He doesn't even nap during the day unless I've been out and he falls asleep in the car....

I can't leave him to cry it out at that time of night as I have a 4 year old in the room next door.

It's a phase, we had the same just before 2 years of age. Unfortunately came at the same time as the birth of my second baby, so i think ours lasted longer. It was an couple of months in total. But as I said I think it was made worse by the new arrival taking all my time. Night and naps were a total nightmare, refusing to go down having to sit in with her, waking up and not going back to sleep, on these nights we just got her up and she slept with daddy while baby and I slept in spare room. Anything to make life easier. Good luck!

Thanks, good to hear it's not abnormal although feels completely alien to me after 4 years of full nights sleep so I guess I can't moan too much!

We've tried him sleeping with us but he's not interested he just wants to get up and play!! The OH manages to sleep through it all or brings him into our bed and is then asleep within 5 minutes so I then can't cope with the chatting, wriggling, crying so I go back down to his room with him.....

Roll on spring! Xx
