Tricks to get baby to nap! almost 5 months

SO my 19 week old will usually only nap in the pram and wakes immediately if i stop walking him; I'm racking up on average 20km per day and am pretty knackered. He usually naps 9-10, 11.30-1/1.3 and then 3-4.30ish.

Just wondering what tricks/ tips other parents have to increase day naps?! I already use white noise (its like my childs soundtrack- it will haunt me later in life Im sure!). I also pull down my babys hat so eyes are covered (if he can see ANYTHING he literally will not sleep).

I've shifted the pram inside on occasion as he associates it to heavily with sleep. He wakes up though pretty quickly. I've just put him in his snowsuit - as if hes going out in the pram- and have put him in his cot where he IS currently sleeping but my guess is he'll wake soon. Should I keep doing this?
Will nap durations increase in time without me obsessing over them? baby sleeps ok at night- feeds every 3ish hours but tends to go back to sleep fairly quickly.

Basically just want to stop walking miles every day in order to get him to nap! am scared if i stop/he doesn't nap well, he'll get extra tired and then won't sleep at night....

Any advice or experience of getting through this stage would be massively appreciated!
Thanks.

My LO will fall asleep if I rock it whilst in the house (sitting on the sofa, drinking tea!)
Have you tried that?
I used a 2-3-4 nap schedule very roughly at this age I think. So, 2 hours after waking is nap time, 3 hours after this waking is nap time, then 4 hours after this is bedtime. This will work if the naps are long enough, however, may need another little nap before bedtime if lo is too over tired. Just a suggestion.

My dd did this and I'm currently going through it with my 4m ds. Dd did eventually stay asleep in the pram once I'd stopped pushing. Firstly left outside the living room window (!) and later I could get the pram in the house without her waking up. Later on from that, I could push the pram a very little ( once around the block or just in the hallway if it rained) and she was asleep. I can't remember ages I'm afraid but you won't be doing this forever.

Thank you so much - really is good to know this can be phased out.
Yesterday he slept inside for the first time i think ever during lunch- 1.5 hours and im attempting the same today.

He was/ is all wrapped up in his going out clothes and sleeping in his sleepyhead. I had to rock him whilst in the sleepyhead to get him to sleep and had to go in a few times and repeat. I'm not currently walking the soles out of my shoes so i guess this is a small victory! I won't celebrate too much as know things can change extremily fast haha.

Every victory counts. I'd go with the outdoor clothes then when he gets used to sleeping inside start taking them off. Just make sure your heating not on full blast or he'll cook.

If you do go back outdoors, walk slower and sit on benches a bit, just to save you the energy, 20km is a bit much in a day everyday. Or jump in the car. My DS was a rubbish napper and only slep in pray or car. This improved about 6-7 months, I didn't do anything special he just improved. Your right to keep trying inside and don't think he'll never nap as I'm sure he will.. you have to keep the hope!!

Thank you- good to know it improved on its own...am hoping the same happens for my boy.

So again today the lunchtime naps in the sleepyhead/ outdoor clothes (temp in room is 17, with window slightly ajar so he'll be alright temp wise). It seems to be working so have hope soon rocking the sleepyhead won't be required before he falls asleep...who knows if that'll work!

There's a thing called a rocket that rocks the pram. Not good enough to get them to sleep but good enough to keep them asleep if the already are and you need to stop. I used it with my son with great success.
However with my DD I could (and have) walked for 6 hours with put her eyelids even drooping.
