My baby doesn’t sleep at night

He’s 9 weeks old and won’t sleep at night time. I breastfeed but my OH gives him an expressed bottle at around midnight to give me a break and a bit of sleep and brings him up afterwards.
We place him in the next2me crib and he just lays there wide awake. Usually wriggling around and making noises. I look over and his eyes are wide open! This continues until 3/4 in the morning when he cries for a feed and I feed him, he then finally falls asleep in our bed and either gets transferred to the crib or stays in with us (safely co sleeping).
I don’t know what to do anymore, everyone else seems to have managed to get their babies to sleep at night, even if it’s not sleeping through, a four hour stretch would be good!

I'm sorry, it's really hard. It won't last forever.

Is DH taking the baby downstairs for the bottle? Maybe the movement and change in lights etc wakes him up more?

Some people swear by ear plugs - you can hear the baby crying but not the little snuffles. If he's just awake but wriggling, can you leave him be and go to sleep yourself for a bit?

@HoustonBess he’s already downstairs with him when he gives the bottle. I go up an hour before. We don’t have him upstairs until he comes up to bed.

@HoustonBess yes I have earplugs but I’m very aware and can’t switch off.

Have you tried swaddling him?

CathyandHeathcliff · 22/12/2018 22:23

@Cyw2018 he hates it and prefers to sleep with his arms above his head

Have you got a clear difference between night and day. If he's downstairs until late perhaps try a new routine bath story bed and dim lights with minimal interaction, no tv, he's young but the cues will be there for him to notice a difference
