Tell Me About Your Successful Newborn Sleeping Arrangements

So I'm five weeks in with a new babe and two older kids (8 and 6). The newborn sleeps alright some nights - 4-7 hours occasionally - but wakes every hour on others. There doesn't seem to be any pattern, but it's early days.

The main issue is that he hates his bedside crib (it's a BedNest and all three kids have refused to sleep in the damn thing - glad I dropped £300 on that piece of crap! 😂). If I feed him to sleep, he might settle in it to start with, but as soon as he wakes, he's in with me because he won't go back to sleep in the crib. I've tried a sleep positioner, a fleece for warmth, all sorts. But nope.

Looking for other ideas to get him out of my bed and easier to settle back to sleep during the night. Tell me what set ups have worked for you - including types of crib/basket/cot, what you line it with, positioners you use and any other accessories that have been life changers! ☺️

Ds is 9 weeks and at the beginning swaddling worked for us, quite tightly - we used the juicy swaddles. We also used white noise, really irritating high pitched white noise!

But honestly Gina Ford worked the best for us. We never leave him to cry for longer than 2 mins and now he often settles in 5 minutes with 0 crying. I know everyone on mn hates her but she has worked very well for us.

@Alyosha Horses for courses! ☺️ My DD Hayes any kind of routine and went out of her way to mess up any I tried (while my best mate's baby obediently followed Gina Ford to the letter, and I jealously looked on). But second time around with DS1, he absolutely thrived on a strict routine. Might give it a go with DS2 then - see if he'll do a bit better with some structure.

Ds resisted the routine until he was 5 weeks, but we are very lucky he fits into it now. My mil swears by warming the cot beforehand and putting something that smells like you in the cot with the baby.
