With my first son we had a lot of issues surrounding doing his sleep (long story) and when he was 9 months old I was at breaking point so paid for the services of a Sleep Consultant who was amazing and fixed everything.

When our second son was I was adamant we wouldn’t make the same ‘mistakes’ with him and we’d implement all the fantastic advice we’d been given with DS1 and we’d have a great sleeper etc etc but of course that didn’t happen.

We co-slept from 3 months of age and here we are, a year later and still co-sleeping. He wakes up about 3 times a night and will only go back to sleep if I breast feed him. I’m exhausted.

Anyway, me and DH have decided that over Christmas we are going to deal with it head on and do that we did with DS1:

Put him into his own room.
Controlled crying.
No breast feeds overnight.

It worked fantastically with DS1 but he was much younger than DS2 when we did it and I guess I’m worried that after 12-13 months of co-sleeping and having breast feeds on demand throughout the night then DS is not going to be happy with the change!

I can’t carry on as we are anymore though.

Has anyone else sleep trained at this age and found it to be quite easy?
