Sleep training help!

I've posted previously about 19 month old DD sleeping on the floor, she will now get in the bed thanks to a new duvet and cover . But staying there is the issue. We currently sit next to her, singing and shushing until she settles then sit quietly until she falls asleep. But then the second we try to leave, her eyes open and she jumps up (even if she was snoozing away happily) and cries uncontrollably.

I am thinking this is separation anxiety but someone please tell me it gets better!!

The sitting and shushing was supposed to be the start of gentle sleep training but we can't seem to even get through the first step! I don't like the idea of CIO and it doesn't work for her.

Sorry for the long post, anyone had similar experiences and tried anything different?

Hm , still doing this with my three year old. All startrd when she was poorly one night and we did what we thought was right. Wish I had never started sitting in her room with her. I think gentle sleep training at this age is better than having to do it now like we are. I know how hard it is. Good luck!

Thanks! You too!

My husband is currently sat in her room after milk, book and a cuddle. She's in her bed and he is sat on a chair next to the bed but no eye contact. She keeps lying down and getting up, hope she gets the idea that's it's bed time soon!!
