dd is 7mth and is a wriggler!!! even up until about 4 mth i had to swaddle her just to help her get off to sleep!!! because she of rubbing face fidgeting!!! now my prob is that if i dont tuck her in properly she wiggles that much it can take up to an hr for her to go off!!! she then gets overtired and very narky.....should i just let her do her own thing ? or should i carry on trying to prevent this by tucking her in ? she also bangs her head against cot bars!!! is this normal?? i have now put bumper on the side of cot she does this but does anyone elses baby do this? its quite disturbing to watch!!

Hi lilsmum
I would suggest leaving her to sttle on her own rather than keep tuckiong her in. It may take her a while to get to sleep but she's finding new ways to get herself to sleep which is good.
As for the headbanging, I'm sorry i don't think i can help. I think as long as she's not hurting herself then it's prob best to wait and see if seh grows out of it. If she stars hurting herself then take her to the drs. Hth. Good luck

Invest in a grobag. It worked for me!

Pop her in a sleeping bag and leave her to get on with it herself. That's really the best thing to do. She'll have to learn to settle herself sooner or later, and it's much easier to do it now before she learns to stand up.

definitely a sleeping bag

i have the same problem. my dd is 3 months but since birth has been a reght wriggler. she rubs her face, pulls at her hair and thumps her legs about. i was swaddling which helped but she kept waking up if she escaped. we now use a grobag which is excellant. i dont have to worry that she gets cold by wriggling out of the covers. unfortunetly it doesnt stop the hand movements but i find if shes in a deep sleep she doesnt do it and if she does i close her bedroom door and leave her get on with it until she goes back to sleep.
dd also bangs her head on the cot. she works her way to the top and i find her head sideways at the top jammed against the bars.
sorry cant help more but i do recommend a grobag

A sleeping bag is definitely the answer!

lilsmum, DS was doing this and put a posting on Mumsnet just like yours!!
Heres what we did....
DS in grobag
Bumper on cot
Left him to it!

He took a couple of nights to sort himself out, he would cry out 2-3 times during the night, but basically we left him - difficult I know but he worked it out.
We now have the problem that he is standing in his cot (8mths) So just when you think you've cleared one hurdle there's another one just round the corner - sorry!

Good luck, and in my experience tucking DD in won't stop her wriggling.
