8 Month Old - Sleep advice...

Hello ladies,

My LO will be 8 months at the end of this month and we are really starting to struggle with his sleep. So I’m just after some useful tips on what worked for you and whether things just got better on their own (eventually).

He recently transitioned to 2 naps a day. One mid morning for around 60 - 90 mins and one early afternoon for around 60 - 90 mins. Roughly he naps about 2 hours after waking, then 3 hours awake time between naps and then 3 - 4 hours awake time between last nap and bedtime.
Naps are usually in the car or on me (he rarely naps in his cot - problem number one).

We have a bedtime routine and he is usually in bed between 7 and 7.30pm.
He is cuddled/gently rocked to almost sleep then put in his cot where he will 99% of the time fall asleep (I wouldn’t call this self settling though). Then after that is anyones guess!

He sometimes wakes after 45 mins but can be settled in the cot. Sometimes he doesn’t wake.
He then seems to wake up every 2/3 ((sometimes 4) hours throughout the night. Some nights waking early hours of the morning and staying awake for around 2 hours!? He is in his own room (only been in there for 2 weeks).
Sometimes he has a bottle other times he isn’t bothered and won’t feed at all during the night.
Some nights I’ve started bringing him in to our bed as he just won’t settle again in his cot (I know this isn’t helping).

I think he has entered Leap 6...does this affect sleep? Did your LOs sleep get better after this leap?

I just don’t understand the inconsistency with his sleep!? I really don’t want to have to do CC or CIO.
