Sleeping bag to duvet

Any advice for getting the baby to sleep go from a sleeping bag to a duvet? Well she is 2 1/2 actually, and totally not interested in a duvet even has tantrums when she sees it. The problem is she is too tall for all sleeping bags now, I have bought her her favourite animal on a duvet cover in the hope that she will like it. Very worried though that she will be cold in the night as she is not used to having to pull a duvet back over herself

I haven't used them so can't speak from experience but have seen the Gro to Bed toddler bedding, which is apparently designed to help transition from sleeping bag to duvet. It looks like it helps to keep the child in bed and also stops them kicking their duvet off.

Our ds loved his sleeping bags and threw duvets out of his cot. But we kept him in a cot until he was 3 and it's only recently that we changed his cot into the junior bed and told him it was a "big boy bed" with a "big boy duvet". We made a whole thing of it and he was so excited the first night in his big bed duvet and all. Persevere but try not to stress too much. Oh and I have a sleeping bag that apparently fits up to 6 years old Grin

Turn the duvet round 90 degrees and tuck it in tight... Worked for me!

Ah no, my advice is useless since it's winter. In the heatwave we got rid of the bags and just put a thin blanket in there. Now it's getting colder we've switched the blanket for a duvet. Maybe you could turn your heating up? Sorry my advice isn't very useful

Slumbersac do sleeping bags to fit 10 year olds so have a look on their website

Thank you all for responses. We have a camera and so i could see her all night - not under the covers 🙄. Went in a few times to cover her up, it didn't seem to bother her.

Camsie30 - I will try the 90 degree thing tonight thank you!!!

A maybe stupid question - but their quilts feel so thin! Do your kids ever get cold? Even once they learn to stay under the quilt?

At this time of year my ds is wearing a onesie with feet and a vest underneath, oh and pull up pants/nappy and he feels toasty anytime we check on him.

So more than a week in and it seems that even though she does throw the covers off all night, she is warm when I get her up. Maybe this is why they go on about not overheating kids - as they run warm naturally???

You can get suits that are as thick as sleeping bags but have foot holes. Vaenait do some that fit up to 7years old. We'll keep using these in winter until night potty training as they are great for warmth in winter.

Our daughter loves her sleeping bag and I thought it'd be a nightmare transitioning to a duvet (2 years 4 months and 95th percentile for height). She has the sleeping bag in her cotbed for comfort and a duvet. I was worried about her being cold so bought her a fleece all in one and put socks on her. Eventually she now sleeps half under the duvet but she's warm whatever.

babasaclover · 27/11/2018 08:33

2children ours is similar. 91st percentile. This morning she was completely out of covers but although her feet were a little chilly, her body was warm! I just don't get it but at least I won't worry too much now.
