Putting baby in own room

Hi,

My LO used to be an amazing sleeper, slept through the night until 4 months, since then she’s awake every 2 hours most nights. She is great at going to sleep, will self settle no problem, but wakes a lot in the night.

She is 7 months now so I want to get her in her own room but I’m not sure if I should wait until her sleep improves first? Any advice or tips to make the transition? She currently sleeps in her next-to-me cot but with the sides up on the other side of our bedroom. Did anyone find LO being in their own room improved their sleep?

I think it depends on whether she is hungry. If she is just snuggling and half awake and thinks 'ah! There's Mum I'll have a snuggle and snack' then if she half wakes she won't smell you so there is a good chance she will have a little moan turn over and go to sleep. If she is hungry through increased activity and erratic calorie intake due to weaning then it might not work. Personally I would think it is worth a try with her history of having been such a good sleeper.

Yes, we moved our son out around 7 months in part because we had begun disrupting each other's sleep! It definitely helped us both get a good nights sleep.

I moved dd when she was 7 months because she kept getting disturbed by us. The first night in her own room she slept solidly!

I moved DD at 4 months and she was disturbing us and we kept waking her. She was in a next2me so for a week or so I put the sides up. Then she had daytime naps in her cotbed in her own room so she was used to it. She'll happily sleep in her own room now and it felt right for us Smile
