20 W/O crying every sleep cycle

Morning All,
So my 20 week old has always been an ok sleeper... I thought she had gone through the 4 month sleep regression, it started a bit earlier around 3.5 months, but she started waking a lot and had to be rocked/shushed back to sleep etc. I realised that she couldn't get herself back to sleep so I managed to get her to learn how to. Now she is in her own room, has all her naps in her cot, I put her down awake and put her MyHummy on, dummy in, a pat on the chest and she will go to sleep (sometimes I have to go back in a couple of times to reassure her, but she does really well and doesn't normally take longer than 5/10 mins). She has been doing really well at night too, down by about 1930, waking around 0430/0530, but I just put her dummy back in and pat her on the chest again and she goes back off until about 0630/0700. She normally spits her dummy out not long after she goes to sleep, so can sleep without it.
But... for the past week, she's started crying every 30/45/60 minutes, it's so random! Sometimes it's just a little tired cry, like she's too tired to cry properly and will settle herself back down, but most of the time I have to go in and resettle her - I don't know where it's come from! Is this just another part of the 4 month sleep regression? Do you think she'll settle back again, or is there something I need to do? Has anyone else had this?
I'm hoping I just need to ride it out and she'll settle back down soon, but I'd love to know anyone's thoughts!
Thanks,
Amy

When you resettle her, are you giving her the dummy? It may be that she needs that to get back off if so. I had a similar issue with DD (now 18 months) - I bought a sleepytot bunny where a dummy attaches to each paw. She quickly learned how to find it and give herself a dummy. Total lifesaver, and now she sleeps with 2 of them in the cot, and cuddles them too. Very sweet.

Best of luck!

AJ Have you thought about just sticking the dummy back in? My daughter is nearly 5 months and been doing this since she was about 12 weeks old. If you stick the dummy in quickly, before she wakes properly, she goes straight back off again. No it's not ideal, but it's the easiest thing for us at the moment to maximise both her sleep and our sleep. She can't fall asleep without it unless she's in the pram (and even then needs it about 50% of the time).

Sipper Where can I get one of those?! And how old was your DD when she could do it herself? DD is trying a lot to put her dummy in but fails like 99% of the time bless her but obviously her motor skills aren't very well developed yet! I am wondering whether she will be able to do it at night even once she has learned though, because at the moment when she wakes she doesn't even open her eyes, just starts to cry and moves her head around a bit. I'm worried that even if she has the motor skills to put it back in, that would mean she would have to fully waken to find the dummy and then she might not go straight back off??

Sorry to hijack thread Blush

Hi Amy, my little one does this most nights. I think it's pretty normal Smile

I got it on amazon meadow. I spent lots of time with her in the day practicing how to use it -she was able to to it herself at 5.5 months old. To make sure it was always in reach, I sewed it on a short piece of ribbon on a popper to the chest of her sleeping bag. That way it was very close. (This was before she could roll over - she didn’t roll until she was about 9 months old!) When she started rolling & moving in the cot, we just left a couple loose in there.

I would definitely give it a go!
