Sleeping bags v swaddling

Hi just wondering if anyone used the sleeping bags and how good they are? Which ones are better arms out or tucked in? Been swaddling my dd (13 days old) which is going ok but she does like to wriggle her hands out and I'm still at the very paranoid phase.

Also if you're using the bags what else do you put on them a night? A friend recently told me they only use the sleeping bags and have done for the last 5 months no extra cover needed.

Thanks

I swaddled my dc for a few weeks -with arms out - then they moved into sleeping bags when they were big enough. There is a lower weight limit in sleeping bags. I had some hand me down Grobags, without sleeves..Gro do a little chart of what to wear in a sleeping bag depending on the room temperature.

I have 4 and for all we did vest, babgro and tight swaddling for first 6 weeks or so and then switched to vest, babygro and arms out gro bags. Worked really well and all 4 were good sleepers.

The vast majority of the Grobags have a minimum weight for safety reasons. My DD was 3m before she met the minimum weight on the 0-6m size.

With the Grobag, depending on the tog of the bag people tend to put the baby in a vest and a sleepsuit.

At the moment (bedroom is around 19-20 degrees) DD is wearing a long sleeved vest plus a sleepsuit and a 1 tog bag. In a 2.5 tog bag she'd have a short sleeved vest and sleepsuit.
