Am I the only one whose 6 month old wakes every 2h?

For the last 3 months baby is waking every 1.5-2h, the only way to put him to sleep is breast so he ends up feeding 5-6 times a night which is definitely too much for his age. He’s more than average weight now because of that. Solids don’t seem to make any difference. Anyone else’s child has such a pattern? Any tips what to do?

Although we didn’t feed her straight away, we tried soothing with voice first and it often worked (night weaning was a nice side effect).

Oh and offering water before milk. (It’s been a few months.)

I've been trying that gradual retreat method with my 7 month old. Not been doing it for long but he already us terrified of his cot as he ends up crying himself to sleep every night. I'm right there with him within touching distance but he still screams as if someone is murdering him. Then wakes very shortly afterwards probably as he is so distressed. It feels like CC to me and I can't do it any more. I've made it worse as he used to at least go into his cot for 5 min without crying and now his feet haven't even touched the mattress and he's screaming. I can't continue like this. I have a demanding 3 year old and I feel I am on the edge. Baby barely naps either. 20 min here and there despite trying every 2hrs or less if I see sleepy signs. What am I doing wrong? It is ruining my life and marriage as I am the most miserable cow in existence.

6 months was the pits.
Awake roughly 4300 times a night.
Keep doing what you are doing.

Similar here. Occasionally has managed 4 hours early on then 3 then 2 then hourly Grin. Sometimes it's been 3 hourly.

This week it's hourly/ two hourly I think. Has cut 2 teeth but seems to be finding it hard to go back to sleep like he used to.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/11/2018 21:27

He's 6 months next week. I feel like I've only just recovered from the 4 month one.

Prior to that he'd do a decent 4-5 hour stretch from 9 which was heaven Envy

I was coming on here to see if anyone was having a nightmare with their 6 mo old...

That wasn’t life when mine was 6 months. Lasted til around 18 months. However he’s now 9’amd a fab sleeper. So much so that he doesn’t want to get up in the mornings. 😂. There is hope for you down the line. It really does pass.

Does sometimes take a dummy; think I'll try it first.was most put out just now with it though...

Jackshouse · 08/11/2018 21:33

My ff dummy using DD did this. We stared to cosleep at 6 months. She has just turned 2 1/2 and we have had a few nights when she has not needed us at all!

We stopped cosleeping at 22 months but in reality one of us hopped into her bed every night either for the full night or several times a night. Anyway the point of this is we cuddle her to sleep and have never sleep trained and now she can self settle durring the night.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/11/2018 21:33

I do cosleep and have the don't care attitude so I do go back to sleep quite easily. Tbh I don't often offer dummy as it wakes us both up more!

Worried so much with ds1 I couldn't sleep which messed up my health a bit.

Do what feels right and what you want to do and they do change. there's always dr Jay Gordon's night weaning after age 1
