My DS 7.5 yrs goes to bed at 7.30 but on alternate nights stays up to watch Robot Wars until 8.15. He is too tired in the mornings to watch every night.

He does understand that if he has trouble getting out of bed then he needs to go to bed earlier.

His alarm goes off for school at 7.20.

I feel hard done by, my twins go to bed between 8-8.30 but eldest son 8 and a half is sometimes still awake past 10 although we try to get him upstairs from 9 onwards.
He just keeps on going and does not seem to need his sleep.

soviet, didn't give you the time of mine: 5 yo goes to bed at 7.30 sometimes ends up being 8.

6 yr old at home in UK, between 9-9.30pm (school didn't begin until 9.40am )

In Indonesia, about 8pm, school starts at 8am.

my 9 year old is a 6:00pm girl, every night, she doesn't complain though, she loves her bed

moxey · 18/03/2003 16:49

am i the only one who has an older child who goes to bed this early?

rosehip · 18/03/2003 17:13

By the time we've had tea, homework, tv, bath it's
around 8.30 for my 6 year old - it takes about 15 minutes to check (nits) and dry her hair and I also like to have a little time to read/chat about her day - 6 o'clock can't be right? Some days there are after school activities too so that changes the routine slightly .... feel so sorry for the child being put to bed at 6 - do hope she has some time with her family before school and at the weekend.

i remember the twins went to bed at 6 when they were 6 years old, then it went up to 7 when they were 7 years old then 8 when they were 8 years old and its stayed at 9 o - clock and now they are 10 years old.

although we have been having a bit of a bedtime palava recently becuase the twins have to go to bed before eldest 13 year old son - its just the way it has to be - and all three can goto bed at the same time of WW3 would start before president bush could start it. and eldest son had recently got his first job - a paperround and he had to get up at 6.15 he usually went to bed at 10pm and got told of for falling asleep at school - the shame - so he obviously has to go to bed earlier as he is geting up earlier - which means the twins have to go to bed earlier - and try telling 10 year old twins they hve to go to bed at 8 o'clock - i have to hide the clocks and tell them its nine 0 clock - then DD turns on comptuter and checks clock and we all have shouting match where i turn into my mother and scream" you will do as i say. no discussion!!! no go to BED"
i shouldnt be having this shit at this time in kids development it should all be sorted

anyway just thought i would lead you all into readint that useless rant

Tortington · 19/03/2003 11:08

that should read they all cant go to bed at the same time cos it would start WW3.

oh and then we have to tell lies to 13 year olds friends who ring up to speak to him - at 9 o ' clock he is in bed - his own choice he just cant handle lack of sleep and his parents (us) are lying to his mates saying he is outside - you know so he doesnt get embarressed and lose street cred - its all insane arrrrrrgh!!!!!
