Headphones in bed

Hi lovely mums!

My first DD is due in Feb and I'm doing my best to get prepped we plan to have her in with us for at least the first 6 months as per guidelines and have bought next 2 me cot to make that as easy & safe for us as possible.

At the mo I listen to BBC radio via my phone and wired headphones to get me to sleep without disturbing DH and will often put it on again in the early hours if I've had to get up for the loo (lots these days!). Phone and wire often gets lost somewhere in the bed as I fall asleep & headphones fall out. Even though she'll be in her own little bed I'm worried the wire might pose a ligature risk to DD when she's here, but if I switch to ear buds they might be a choking hazard??

So, I know lack of sleep is going to be a problem and I'm worried my current sleep strategies are just not compatible with a newborn.

Does anyone who uses radio or music to help them sleep have their own way of doing things that might work for us too? Thank you

I've got one of these and it's fab - www.amazon.co.uk/SoundLAB-Pillow-Speaker-Jack-Plug/dp/B002GJ0ES6

When my daughter was bed sharing, I put it under the fitted sheet so the wire wasn't out anywhere

Same issue here
I got some wireless headphones but they are too big and I can't sleep with them!

@greatbigwho isnt it uncomfortable if it is hard and on the pillow?

greatbigwho · 29/10/2018 21:03

No, it goes under the pillow!

I know this may be personal, but I have to say that because of the lack of good quality sleep I didn't tend to find getting to sleep was much of an issue with a new born, though it was during pregnancy. Staying awake as required seems to be more the issue I found.

@greatbigwho great idea and so cheap, I will give that a go! Thank you

In searching for a pillow speaker I also just found these wireless cosyphones which might also work!

Time for trial and error
