Hi all,
Has anyone got their 3 month old to have a nap routinein the day?
My little boy is really difficult to get to nap. I don't know whether to start a nap routine now or not. Do I take him upstairs in his Moses basket / crib? He seems to be going through a patch of crying and crying and I try to rock him, put white noise on but nothing's working!! Im going from one thing to a other tk try and get him to sleep and just confusing him i think. Help!! 🙈 Many thanks.

Around about this age they stop just falling asleep on their own and need some encouragement. He will probably show signs of tiredness after being awake for 1.5-2 hours and you need to try and settle him down then rather than let him get overtired and upset. Some people say if you get them at the right time you can pop them down and they will nod off. My son always cries if just put down in his crib awake. I’m still feeding him to sleep at the moment. I’m sure other people will have other methods.

I realised my 3 month old wanted to nap after being awake for only 75 minutes. If I left it much past that, had to feed to sleep. I also started to put him to sleep in his crib in a dark room, after trying to keep it light for the first few months. He was able to differentiate day and night then (as he would only nap for 45 mins in the day but a few hours at night) and that worked for us

A few weeks on but with my 4 month old I use the pram for the first nap of the day as my aim is for her to fall asleep at least once in the day without being fed. I watch for tiredness, then rock her and sing a song then place her in the pram with white noise. The other naps I'm chaotic with, but this week I'm aiming to start having her lunch time nap in her cot in the nursery to help her to transition to there for when she's 6 months.
