How do I get DS ti lie down and stay there?

DS (8.5 months) has discovered how to sit up in his cot - now it takes ages to get him to sleep as he will not lie down! Pinning him down under the sheet works for alittle while but then he wriggles out. Any ideas?

Leave him be. If he's not crying, he'll get sleepy, lay down and sleep

Thing is, he finds it hard to lie down again and then yells

Its just one of htose things that they do - short of tying him to the cot I think its something he'll have to work out

(DON'T tie him to the cot!!!)

I used to play a game with my wriggliest ds which involved him lying down while I wafted the covers over him and tickled him etc and finished with me tucking him in as part of the game.

I'm a bit of a softer so this is what I do...

if he is happy sitting / standing I leave him but if he is crying sitting / standing I help him lie down saying 'ssshhhh night night' He does take a while but we are getting there now.

If he is in a sleeping bag it is easier because you don't have to worry about them getting tangled in the sheets and getting cold
