The dreaded 4 month sleep regression

My little one is 18 weeks now and I feel as though this has been going on forever. I think it started around the 3 month mark but honestly I'm so deliriously tired I can't even remember. Anyway. The last few days have been tough. He's fighting a really bad cold at the minute, as well as teething which of course go hand in hand with the sleep regression but I'm close to running on empty now and just need some support and advice I guess. We've established a good bedtime routine and recently he's become a fairly decent napper in the day, making sure his maximum awake time is no longer than 2 hours - that is until it gets to any later than 5 and he absolutely refuses any naps after that. Then he's not going to sleep until 9/10!! So that's often 4/5 hours of awake time. So he's clearly overtired. Do you think it would be worth bringing bedtime forward in one fell swoop without gradually decreasing it like we've been trying to do (with difficulty)? So for instance, say he wakes up from his nap at 5, would you then start the bed time routine and try and put him down at 7? Only these last few nights since he's been poorly he's also started crying inconsolably at bedtime. Like not even boob sorts him out which is so not like him, boob is normally the answer to all his problems! It's so heartbreaking seeing him getting so worked up and I genuinely find it traumatic. Oh and finally, he wakes up every 45 minutes to an hour. He usually sleeps for a good 3 hour stretch (which feels like heaven) from 10-1 then hrs every 45 min to an hour from then onwards. Sometimes he wakes with gas pain and can sometimes white noise sends him back off but most of the time he just wants boob. Any advice? Thanks in advance xxx
