Sleepyhead and alternatives

Two questions really, is it worth buying a sleepyhead deluxe for an average size 4.5 month old or is she likely to outgrow it quickly?
And... Are any of the cheaper alternatives to the sleepyhead a good buy? Are the handles on the sleepyhead of any benefit?

My 4.5 month old is in a sleepy head deluxe and has a few months growing room tops. I have never used any alternative. The handles are a bit useless (for me anyway) don’t actually use them for anything. Hope that helps.

In a month or so your baby is going to be rolling over so is it really worth it?

I’ve just bought one for my (rather large 😂) 8 month old and i’d say there’s a decent amount of room left in it!! She’s 22lbs and very long. My friends has a 2 year old in the grand and he sleeps comfortably. Also even if they grow out of it quite quickly you can easily sell them for a decent amount!x

My DD is now 16 months and although long out of her Sleepyhead Deluxe, we still use the long sausage pillow under her cot sheet. We used it in a horseshoe shape under her sheet when we first transferred her to her cot and it just made it a bit smaller, preventing her rolling all over the cot and waking herself up. Now it's across the top and down one side to try and stop her bashing her head on the bars in the night. She snuggles up to it and seems to like having it in there.

I also rolled up a blanket to go under the sheet of her carrycot when she was very small. She broke out of every swaddle but had a shocking startle reflex and definitely was more relaxed if she felt 'snug'. Hope that helps!

Sleepheads aren't recommended due to the risk of SIDS - see below. Just worth baring in mind!

We used Cocoonababy nests for our twins, then moved them to Sleepyhead Grands when they were 4.5 months. They LOVE them. We're only just considering getting rid of the Sleepyheads now and the DTs are 2.5. They've been superb value. Sleepyheads not twins. Twins have been financially ruinous.
