I've tried everything!

My DS is 6.5 months old and has always been a bad sleeper. We bed shared until recently and then I discovered I was pregnant and moved him into a cot because the 90 minute night sleeps were killing me. He now sleeps amazingly at night (wakes only 3 times which is a huge improvement) but his naps are something else. He point blank refuses. I have tried PUPD (stopped after my aching couldn't take it, managed an hour and a half), rocking, crying in arms, feeding to sleep, white noise, dummies, comforters, Ewan, that stupidly expensive 'shh' machine, singing, bum patting, everything except CIO (which is a hard no from me). I have now been listening to him crying in his crib since 7am when he showed the first signs of tiredness. He's refusing a feed and I'm sat next to the crib. He's just purple crying and I don't know what to do. I'm a single mum so there's no way I can get any restbite and this can't continue once I've had the next one.

For me, CIO worked perfectly. You describe him now as upset, so why not give it a go?

I'm considering it but I don't like the idea of raised cortisol levels, there was a study that says it happens less with crying in arms. Plus I don't think I have the strength.
